By CD Services standards, this department is much smaller than any of the others, but it is no less important, because here you will find a form of music that is steeped in traditional English culture. With only just over 500 ‘Canterbury’ titles available worldwide, you should find most of what you need listed in our on-line store database, because it is populated with a good selection of material drawing from over 25 years of the traditional ‘Canterbury’ scene and beyond. You will find a family of groups with an initial musical connection that sprang up in South-East England back in the late 1960's - Bands such as Caravan and Soft Machine, going on through to Gong and Matching Mole, plus all associated members solo releases and side-projects that fall into the ‘Canterbury’ category of music. Soft Machine are also here, and they were the early pioneers of Jazz-Rock in the UK, and they lead on to bands such as Henry Cow, Pierre Moerlin’s Gong and National Health, etc. We believe that you won’t find a better selection of this genre anywhere else.
