JAZZ-ROCK
We are not traditional ‘Jazz’ experts by any stretch of the imagination, but in the field of ‘Jazz-Rock’ it is quite a different story – Here we come into our own and devote quite a part of our personal energies to a side of the genre that crosses over into areas we are good with. In this department you will find a selected range of recordings that tend to favour the guitar-bass-drums-keyboards line-up variety of the genre more than anything else, but the inclusion of wind and brass instruments is not something that turns us off either. Despite the genre being somewhat over-crowded with releases, there are a lot of quality new bands and musicians producing great music out there, keeping it fresh and exciting all the way down the line. We will be featuring these talented people alongside the more established names in the business, and we’ll try to present a well-balanced overview of the entire ‘Jazz-Rock’ spectrum in this department. From the earliest beginnings of the genre, we have cultivated an interest in the ‘Jazz-Rock’ field and through the years have covered artists known (Mahavishnu Orchestra, Pat Metheny, Isotope, Brand X, etc.,) to the more obscure and upcoming talent, from older artists such as Wayne Johnson through more contemporary names such as Leni Stern & Alex M Chacek to the undiscovered delights of Rare Blend and the highly underrated French TV. Here, you will find quite a few items crossing over with our ‘Guitar Music’ (Instrumental)’ department, and we would draw your attention to that, because you will find things in there that may not be classed as ‘Jazz-Rock’, but will have an appeal to you as a fusion music fan.
